Pune: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is facing challenges not only with unauthorized hoardings but also with authorized hoardings in terms of generating revenue.

Out of the 1,650 authorized hoardings, approximately only 300 have been renewed since the beginning of the financial year. This not only resulted in a loss of revenue but also increased the risk of accidents.

It is essential to conduct a structural audit for each hoarding before renewal. However, there are concerns regarding the structural stability of 1,350 hoardings that have not been renewed.

Activists have pointed out a possible connection between certain civic officials and advertising agencies, which may explain the prevalence of illegal hoardings in the city.

As per the information provided, civic administration will commence the demolition work once the deadline expires. All the hoardings that have not been renewed will be considered illegal and demolished. Additionally, a ward office will be established specifically for this demolition.
