Prof G S Mani honoured with IEEE Ulrich L Rhode Humanitarian Technical Field Project
Prof GS Mani was honoured with IEEE Ulrich L Rhode Humanitarian Technical Field Project in an International Conference at Ahmedabad on December 13,2023.He is a resident of Konark Indrayu Enclave society on NIBM Undri road.
Apart from the citation,the award carries $10,000 for IEEE Pune Section. The award was received by Prof Mani along with Prashant Joshi, Dr Neha Sharma, Abhijit Khurape and Dr Mandar Bhawalkar.
While receiving the award,  Prof Mani  dedicated the award to all those who worked for Project Eu-Reka over the years from IEEE Pune section and outside ,and also to the mentors, college students, School teachers, and most importantly to the 50,000 + school children who took part to make Eu-Reka into a national movement.Â
Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is a professional organization with more than 45,000 members from about 19 countries. Pune Section of IEEE has been working on project Eu-Reka, where students of Engineering colleges help reduce drop-out levels in rural and urban schools by giving motivational
talks.
Eu-Reka was lead by Prof Mani of IEEE Pune Section and involved more than 1500 college students and 50,000 school children from 12 Indian states/ union territories. Education experts including Dr Kasturi Rangan, Former Chief of ISRO ,and Dr Sahasrabudhe, Former Chairman of AICTE had earlier appreciated the the initiative of project Eu-Reka towards uplifting National literacy level.
Prof Mani was a leading scientist of DRDO and retired as Director and Dean of IAT(at present Defence Institute of Advanced Technology, Deemed University) in 2002.
