Residents living in the Pimple Saudagar and Rahatani areas of Pune have been facing prolonged power cuts frequently amid the on-going heat waves. The electricity cut-off, which happens intermittently at night and during the day, is making life unbearable for people in the scorching heat.

Residents are expressing their anger over the power cut-off and are demanding that the situation be rectified as soon as possible. Nana Kate, a former corporator, has appealed to MSEDCL senior engineer of Pimple Saudagar, Rahatani division, to fix the problem and restore full power supply.

According to Kate’s letter, Rahatani and Pimple Saudagar have both rural and urban pockets. Due to the large number of people working from home and the ongoing student exams, the electricity demand in the area has increased significantly. With the scorching summer heat, the need for day and night lights has also increased, putting strain on the electrical infrastructure.

However, the lack of power supply and the resulting voltage spikes not only disrupt everyday life but also put electrical equipment at risk. From children to seniors, people are fed up with the constant power outages. The delayed response to cable damage during excavation compounds the problem and has caused a lot of anger among residents. The frequent power outages have caused health problems to the people, especially during the summer time. Night time power outages often last for a long time and are not restored in a timely manner.

Delays in repairing damaged cables make the situation even worse, resulting in inconsistent power supply as per the statement given by Nana Kate. Fixing these issues is essential to keep basic services running smoothly and keep the public happy.
