A combined effort by Shree Ramjanmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Ayodhya and Heritage Handweaving Revival Charitable Trust, Pune

Pune, Date: 7 August 2023 : The movement for Shri Ramjanmabhoomi Temple at Ayodhya has seen an incredible participation by people from all walks of life. Millions of people have been emotionally invested & connected to this re-establishment of faith & devotion, awaiting the unveiling of this historical temple. 

Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Ayodhya & Heritage Handweaving Revival Charitable Trust, Pune have decided to provide another opportunity for people to connect to this movement by organizing “Do Dhage Shri Ram Ke Liye”, an initiative under which, from 10th to 22nd December, thousands of people will weave on handlooms in Pune to create Vastras for Shri Ram Lalla Viraajman at Ayodhya.

Swami Govind Dev Giri, the treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust & Smt. Anagha Ghaisas along with Shri Vinay Patrale, founders of Heritage Handweaving Revival Charitable Trust, Pune, while making this announcement, said that this 13 day festival will also feature a grand list of programs at the same venue. This festival, realised through two years of devoted effort & the blessings of Hon. Swami Govind Dev Giri will be a place where people can devote the effort of their own hands to Shri Ram, while also reconnecting citizens to our culture of handweaving.

Since 1985, millions of people have given their enthusiastic participation to many programs in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement. We are organizing this festival, “Do Dhage Shri Ram Ke Liye” in Pune, as the next innovative step in this chain of events. Citizens from all castes, creeds & regions will participate in this festival, breaking all constraints of financial & regional disparity to unite & weave their devotion into Vastras for Shri Ram, setting a blazing example of patriotism & unity.

A handloom will be brought from every state in India, along with looms from other countries including Nepal. To be inaugurated on 10th December by notable dignitaries, the festival will welcome all people to weave on these handlooms every day till Geeta Jayanti, 22nd December 2023. All participants will be given a practical on the technique of weaving.

This festival will begin with traditional sanctification, Hom-Havan, in the presence of notable Sadhu – Santas. Many dignitaries will participate & contribute to this program. The weaving will be done according to specifications for Vastras for Gods & Goddesses found in the Vedas. Along with weaving, vyakhyan, bhajan, kirtan & cultural programs on the subject of Shri Ram will be organized at the venue for all 13 days.

A pictorial exhibition showcasing the history of the Ramjanmabhoomi temple will also be organized. Maha-Arti & Maha-Prasad will be conducted every morning & evening. We invite all devotees of Shri Ram to participate & enjoy this incredible atmosphere in this festival.

While addressing a query from a reporter during the Press Conference Swami Govind Dev Giri Maharaj said, “The cloth made from the initiative shall be used for the deities in the new temple complex of Shree Ram at Ayodhya.”

“Shree Ramjanmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, Ayodhya has received donations to the tune of Rs.3200/- Crore and all these are from the individuals and organizations within the country. The trust will now start accepting the donation from abroad since the required permissions of FCRA – Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act have been obtained. So far people have contributed generously and the funds are enough to successfully undertake the Temple Development at Ayodhya”, he added.
