Pune, March 9, 2026: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram on Monday presented the civic body’s budget for the financial year 2026–27, with a total outlay of ₹13,995 crore. The proposed budget has now been submitted to the Standing Committee for further discussion and approval.
The budget prioritises core civic services, with significant funds earmarked for water supply, roads, waste management, sewerage infrastructure and transport planning to address the needs of the rapidly growing city.
The Water Supply Department has received the largest allocation of ₹2,077 crore, reflecting the rising demand for drinking water as the city continues to expand. Road development and maintenance projects have been allocated ₹1,866 crore, while ₹1,390 crore has been earmarked for solid waste management initiatives.

In addition, ₹1,216 crore has been set aside for sewerage projects aimed at strengthening sewage networks and improving sanitation infrastructure across Pune.
To improve traffic movement and urban mobility, the civic administration has proposed ₹740 crore for transport planning and related infrastructure development.
The budget also includes ₹979 crore for the Primary Education Department to support municipal schools and improve educational facilities.

Other key allocations include ₹650 crore for the Building Construction Department, ₹265 crore for the Electric Department and ₹205 crore for the Garden Department. The Social Development Department has been allotted ₹143.50 crore, while the Health Department will receive ₹88 crore.
Further provisions include ₹64.50 crore for Town Planning, ₹51.59 crore for the Environment Department and ₹56.73 crore for Information Technology initiatives. The Heritage Cell has been allocated ₹28.50 crore, and the Cultural Centre Department will receive ₹171.31 crore.
The proposed budget aims to strengthen civic infrastructure, enhance public services and support the city’s long-term urban development. The Standing Committee will review the proposal before giving its final approval.
