Pune: 18-Year-Old NEET Aspiring Student Found Dead At Home In Mohamadwadi; Police Probe Underway
Pune, July 18, 2026: An 18-year-old student was found dead at her residence in Mohammadwadi, Hadapsar, on Friday morning in an apparent case of suicide. Police have registered an accidental death report and launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Anushka Ashish Chaugule, a resident of Saffron Hill Society in Mohammadwadi.
According to police, Anushka’s father had left for work while her younger brother had gone to school. Her mother, who was busy with household chores, later found that Anushka had locked herself inside her room. After receiving no response, she used a spare key to open the door and discovered her hanging.
Police said the incident occurred a day after the results of a national medical entrance examination were declared. Investigators are examining whether the examination outcome had any connection with the incident, although no conclusion has been reached so far.
Kalepadal police station officials visited the spot as part of the investigation. The exact reason behind her death is yet to be ascertained.
