Pune: 19-Year-Old Student Dies on Spot After Collision with Cement Truck While Avoiding Slippery Road
Pune, 27 June 2025: A tragic road accident claimed the life of 19-year-old Sai Bhagwat, an Arts student from Fergusson College, on Thursday afternoon (26 June) near Mahadev Nagar on Sinhagad Road.
According to police reports, Sai was riding her two-wheeler home from college when she encountered untreated sewage water spilling onto the road in Tukainagar. In an attempt to avoid it, she swerved slightly, causing her vehicle to drift into the path of an oncoming cement truck. The truck struck her from behind, and she died instantly from the impact.
Sai, a resident of Bhansali Complex in Vadgaon, was widely recognized for her talent in Pune’s theatre scene, having won awards at events like the prestigious Purushottam Karandak. Besides excelling in academics and cultural activities, she was also active in social work through various student groups.
The accident is currently under investigation by Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam, under the guidance of Police Inspector Dilip Daingade.
