Fursungi, 4 December 2025: A tragic accident claimed the life of a five-year-old boy and left his mother critically injured when a school bus struck them on Hadapsar-Saswad Road near Uruli Devachi on Tuesday morning. Police have registered cases against four individuals, including the bus driver and the founder of Modak International School.

The deceased has been identified as Sainath Tulshiram Bhangare, a resident of Ganraj Heights in Uruli Devachi. His mother, 28-year-old Rekha Tulshiram Bhangare, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital. She lodged a complaint with the Fursungi police station following the incident.

Authorities said the bus driver, Sanskar Anil Bhosale from Pandavnagar in Vadki, has been arrested. Cases have also been filed against Modak International School founder Sanjay Vasant Modak, principal Dr. Aarti Jadhav, and the bus owner, Manisha Sanjay Modak.

The Bhangare family hails from Kandhar taluka in Nanded district. Sainath was enrolled in the infant section at a local school in Uruli Devachi. According to police, the incident occurred while Rekha was walking her son to school. A school bus from Modak International School had arrived near Savli Homes Society to pick up students. While reversing, the driver allegedly failed to notice the mother and child behind the vehicle, striking them with force.

Local residents rushed both victims to a nearby private hospital, but Sainath succumbed to his injuries after the bus wheel ran over his head.

Senior Inspector Amol More and Police Inspector Rajesh Khande reached the site immediately, with Assistant Inspector Kishore Pawar leading the investigation.

Following the accident, relatives and local residents gathered at Fursungi police station, carrying the child’s body and demanding strict action against the school administration and the individuals responsible. Police registered offences against all four accused based on the family’s complaint.
