PUNE: In a tragic incident, a 52-year-old woman died after accidentally falling into an underground drinking water tank at a residential society in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Asha Sanjay Gawli (52), a resident of Durga Residency in Mohan Nagar, Chinchwad. According to police, Gawli reportedly fell into the tank while filling water inside the society premises. She drowned before help could arrive.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the body has been sent to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH) in Pimpri for post-mortem examination.
Authorities are looking into how the woman fell into the tank and whether any safety lapses were involved.
A similar tragedy was reported last year in Hadapsar, where a 25-year-old woman, Kausalya Mukesh Chavan, was found dead in a water tank in Fursungi.
This incidents have raised concerns about safety measures around underground water tanks in residential areas.
