The Pune district collector’s office has received over 6,000 applications from citizens raising objections to the demerger of Phursungi and Uruli Devachi from the Pune Municipal Corporation. A hearing will be held on the forthcoming Monday on these applications at the district collector;s office.

It was in March that the chief minister Eknath Shinde had announced a decision to demerge these villages from the PMC and form a separate municipal council. Following this, a notification was issued and the citizens were allowed to raise their objections in March this year. 6,000 objections have been received at the office.

The complaints raised by the citizens will be heard by a deputy collector or additional collector rank officer which will be then handed over to the Pune district collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh. These applications will then be sent to the state government for further action.
