Pune: 8-Lane Elevated Corridor Planned From Nashik Phata To Khed To Ease Traffic
Pune, March 30, 2026: In a major infrastructure push to tackle traffic congestion on the Pune–Nashik highway, an elevated corridor is being planned between Nashik Phata and Khed, aimed at improving connectivity across key industrial zones.
The proposed 30-kilometre-long project will be developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at an estimated cost of ₹7,827 crore. Technical bids for the project have been opened, with major infrastructure firms such as Adani Enterprises, GR Infraprojects, and Prakash Asphalting and Toll Highways India likely to participate in the tender process.
The project is designed to significantly reduce traffic bottlenecks between Pimpri-Chinchwad and Rajgurunagar (Khed), while enhancing direct connectivity to industrial hubs such as Chakan, Bhosari, and Moshi.
A key feature of the corridor is an eight-lane elevated flyover to be constructed on a single-pillar design, along with the widening of the existing highway to four or six lanes. Dedicated service roads will also be built to separate local and long-distance traffic, improving safety and travel efficiency.
The project has faced challenges related to land acquisition, particularly in areas between Bhosari and Moshi along the Indrayani river, as well as issues concerning funding and land availability through FSI and TDR mechanisms. However, continuous follow-up by political leaders has helped move the project forward.
Local MLA Mahesh Landge stated that the project is crucial for residents, workers, and businesses in the region. He added that efforts are being made to ensure its timely completion under the leadership of Narendra Modi, Nitin Gadkari, and Devendra Fadnavis.
Once completed, the corridor is expected to provide faster, safer, and more efficient travel, significantly easing congestion on one of the region’s busiest routes.
