Pune: ABVP Protests ILS At Law College; Administration Assures Action On Student Demands
Pune, March 16, 2026:
A protest organized by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Indian Law Society’s Law College in Pune resulted in the college administration agreeing to address several long-pending student issues.
The agitation was held on March 16 by ABVP Pune city unit to demand the resolution of multiple problems faced by students on campus. Key issues raised during the protest included the deteriorated condition of the road near Gate No. 5, absence of CCTV cameras in classrooms which are essential for security, and the renovation of the hostel building that has been pending for nearly a year.
Students also highlighted concerns about the lack of clean drinking water facilities within the campus and the absence of a proper canteen, which they said was affecting their daily routine and academic schedule. In addition, ABVP opposed the recent fee hike, alleging that it does not comply with the rules of the Fee Regulating Authority (FRA).

Before launching the protest, ABVP had submitted reminders to the college administration on February 24 and March 10, urging them to resolve the issues. However, activists alleged that the administration failed to take action, forcing students to stage a strong demonstration on campus.
After nearly three to three-and-a-half hours of protest, the college administration issued a written assurance stating that the demands raised by students would be addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, ABVP Pune city minister Radheya Bahegavhankar said that despite being a reputed institution, the lack of basic facilities at the college is unacceptable. He warned that if the administration fails to fulfill its assurances in the coming days, the organization will launch a more intense agitation.
