The residents of Kalyani Nagar are in distress as a lot of trash has been accumulated opposite Reddy Restaurant, behind Konark Kinara society in Kalyani Nagar, which is causing a lot of problems.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Aaditya Patil, Resident of Kalyani Nagar, said “The debris left behind has led to rat infestations, posing health risks. Vehicles mounting footpaths have damaged our walkways, making them unsafe. Unauthorised stalls and vendors further degrade our environment, damaging surfaces and obstructing pathways. Additionally, commercial encroachments are robbing us of public spaces. It’s imperative that we address these issues promptly to preserve our community’s well-being, safety, and aesthetic appeal. Let’s unite to restore the beauty and functionality of South Avenue, ensuring a cleaner, healthier, and more organized living environment for all.”

Sachin Agashe, Another Resident of Kalyani Nagar, said “Footpaths, once safe havens, now bear the brunt of vehicle invasion. Unapproved vendors mar aesthetics while commercial entities overstep boundaries. Our collective identity is at stake. Let’s forge a path to restoration – demanding cleanup, regulated spaces, and renewed safety measures. Our neighbourhood’s allure must not waver; it’s time to mobilize for a South Avenue that mirrors our aspirations – pristine, secure, and truly remarkable.”

Monica S, Resident of Kalyani Nagar, said “The accumulation of debris and rubble on the road poses significant challenges for pedestrians. Navigating through the obstacles becomes a daily struggle, putting their safety at risk. The presence of cement blocks on South Avenue road exacerbates the issue, making it even more hazardous. Urgent action is required from the authorities to clear the road, ensuring the safety and convenience of pedestrians. Keeping the pathways clear is essential for a thriving urban environment where everyone can move around without facing unnecessary difficulties or dangers.”

As per information, due to garbage piling, residents have to face a lot of problems like:

·         Pedestrian Obstruction: The trash, piled within the cement block, significantly obstructs the path of pedestrians. This poses a daily challenge to the residents, including children, the elderly, and others who frequently use this walkway.

·         Vector-Borne Diseases: The unattended trash has attracted rats and other disease-carrying vectors. Residents have observed rats in the vicinity, and the conditions created by the trash heap are conducive to the spread of diseases, including but not limited to leptospirosis and various gastrointestinal illnesses.

·         Foul Odour: The trash emits a foul odour, making it unpleasant and unhealthy for anyone passing by. This odour negatively affects the quality of life for the residents and impacts the overall ambiance of the area.

·         Aesthetic Deterioration: The litter has a detrimental impact on the aesthetic appeal of the area, which is known for its cleanliness and beauty.
And many more.
