A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Pune, where an 18-year-old medical student from Beed, studying at AIIMS Bhopal, died by suicide by slitting his throat at his residence in the Wanwadi area. He had come to Pune in AFMC for a festival to attend. For the last one year he was undergoing depression and was also taking treatment for the same.
The deceased has been identified as Utkarsh Mahadev Hingne. Before taking the extreme step, he reportedly posted a message on WhatsApp, stating that he was ending his life due to academic stress. The suicide note has been recovered by the police and sent for further investigation.
Police received a call around 9:15 AM on Monday and rushed to the location at Panchratna Housing Society in Wanawadi, where they found Utkarsh’s body in the bathroom with a fatal neck injury.
During the initial investigation, police found Utkarsh’s mobile phone with a WhatsApp message that mentioned academic pressure as the reason behind his suicide.
Senior Police Inspector Wanwadi Police Station confirmed that Utkarsh, originally from Beed district, had recently secured admission at AIIMS Bhopal for medical studies. He was in Pune to attend a program when the incident occurred.
