Pune Air Force Station Organises Inaugural Sekhon Marathon to Pay Tribute to Param Vir Chakra Awardee Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon

Pune, November 3, 2025: Air Force Station Pune organized the first edition of Sekhon Indian Air Force Marathon on 02 November 2025 to commemorate the valour and legacy of the Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardee Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon. 

The Marathon was organized in three categories i.e. 21 Km, 10 Km and 05 Km. The run was a befitting tribute to the only Param Vir Chakra Awardee (PVC) of the Indian Air Force, who himself was a keen sportsman. Over 2,500 Air Warriors, families, school children and citizens of Pune took part in the event. 

The run was flagged-off by Air Commodore Satbir Singh Rai, VM, Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station Pune from the Station Sports Ground at 0545 Hr. The marathoners participated with great enthusiasm to make the event a huge success.

The event culminated at the Station Sports Ground at 0930 Hr with the distribution of prizes. The Air Officer Commanding emphasized the importance of physical fitness in daily life for everyone, especially military personnel. 

He urged everyone to formulate a workout schedule and stick to it in order to remain physically fit and mentally agile.
