Pune Airport Police Arrest Notorious Bike Thief From Viman Nagar, Recover Two Stolen Motorcycles Worth ₹1.8 Lakh
Pune | May 7, 2025 – The Pune Airport Police have arrested a habitual offender and recovered two stolen two-wheelers valued at ₹1.8 lakh in a swift operation carried out on May 5. The action was taken following a tip-off received by police constable Yogesh Thopte from an informant.
According to officials from the Viman Nagar Police Station, the informant alerted them that an individual in possession of a stolen Activa scooter was spotted near an open ground in front of R.K. Chowk, Lohgaon. Acting swiftly, Assistant Police Inspector Vijay Chandan led a team from the Pune City Crime Branch to the location and detained the suspect.
The accused, identified as Munaan Sattar Ansari, 34, a resident of Kalwad Vasti, Lohgaon (near J.J. English Medium School), was caught with a stolen Activa. A background check confirmed that the scooter had been reported stolen under Case No. 202/2025 at the Viman Nagar Police Station under IPC Section 379 (theft).
Further interrogation revealed another stolen vehicle—a Royal Enfield Bullet—also in his possession. Investigation confirmed that the motorcycle had been stolen from Mumbai’s Kalachowki Police Station jurisdiction.
The police have recovered both the Activa and the Bullet, together worth approximately ₹1.8 lakh.
This successful operation was conducted under the orders of Mr. Manoj Patil (Additional Commissioner of Police, Eastern Region), Mr. Himmat Jadhav (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Division 4), and Ms. Pranjali Sonawane (Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yerawada Division). The operation was executed under the supervision of Inspector Ashalata Khapre and led by API Vijay Chandan with officers Rupesh Pisal, Shailesh Naik, Rakesh Chandekar, Ankush Jogdande, Yogesh Thopte, Dadasaheb Barde, Dnyandev Aware, Hariprasad Punde, Lalu Karhe, Girish Nanekar, and Rupesh Thodekar.
Further investigation is ongoing to trace more thefts possibly linked to the accused.
