Pavanathadi Jatra has been organized from January 11 to 15 2024 in PWD ground in Sangvi so that the products manufactured by the women’s self-help groups are available in the market. As per information from the PCMC, Shekhar Singh, PCMC Commissioner will inaugurate the Pavanathadi Jatra on January 11 at 5 pm. Ajit Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister of the state and Guardian Minister of Pune will attend this program as the chief guest. Dilip Valse Patil, Minister of Co-operation of Maharashtra, Chandrakant Patil, Minister of Higher and Technical Education of Maharashtra, and Dr Nilam Gorhe, Deputy Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council will be present as special guests. Also, Supriya Sule, Srirang Barane, Amol Kolhe, Uma Khapare, Sangram Thopte, Anna Bansode, Mahesh Landge, and Ashwini Jagtap will be prominently present.

Pavanathadi Jatra has been an effective medium for women’s self-help groups and individual women to market their products and develop marketing and sales skills among women. In this, a lot of stalls have been allotted to women’s self-help groups to display their products. Commissioner Singh also said that this year some stalls have been reserved for the disabled.

On the occasion of the fair, various cultural programs have been organized on behalf of the PCMC and traditional folk artists from different areas have been invited. Folk artists will perform many folk arts like orchestra, drama, Lavani, Gondhal, Sanai Choughada, Jugalbandi of Waghya-Murali, and Maharashtrachi Lokdhara. Children will be given the opportunity to play and experience various attractive and interesting games through the fair. Due to this, the citizens will get a feast of entertainment along with the taste of various food cultures.

Cultural programs are organized at the Pavanathadi fair every day at 6 pm. On January 11, a popular program to preserve the Marathi culture ‘Maharashtrachi Lokdhara’ will be organized. 

On January 12 at 6 pm, ‘Music Makers’ will present a program of melodious songs and at 7.30 pm the program ‘Khel Rangala Paithanicha – Home Minister’ will be presented.

On January 13 at 6 pm, the program ‘Superhits of Bollywood’ is organized with hit songs of Kishore Kumar, RD Burman and Bappi Lahiri. 

On January 14 at 6 pm, a cultural program of Lavani Empress will be presented. Also, on the concluding day of Pavanathadi, i.e. January 15, at 6 pm, the program ‘Caravan Geetoka’, a celebration of Marathi-Hindi songs, will be held.

On the occasion of Pavanathadi fair, dignitaries from various cities and municipalities visit the fair. Also, many actors from the film industry, political leaders and dignitaries from various fields participate in the fair. It is estimated that around three to five lakh people will visit the fair which runs for five consecutive days. Preparations have been made on behalf of the Municipal Corporation to provide facilities for the citizens.
