Pune based Senior Journalists To Be Felicitated With Devarshi Narad Journalism Award

Pune: Devarshi Narad Journalism Award, given annually in association with Vishwa Samvad Kendra and Deccan Education Society, will be distributed on August 19 at 10:30 am. Shehzad Poonawala, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), National Spokesperson, will present the award in a special ceremony at Fergusson College, amphitheatre, informed Abhay Kulkarni, President of Vishwa Samvad Kendra and vice president of Deccan Education Society.
Abhay Kulkarni further said that this is the 12th year of this award initiative and these awards are given every year in the name of Devarshi Narad. Four journalists who have done outstanding work in the field of journalism are honoured with the award. The award consists of Rs 21,000 for senior journalist and 11 thousand rupees in cash and memento for the other three awards.
Anirudh Devchakke, Bureau Chief of Divya Marathi, has been selected for this year’s senior journalist award, while Arun Mhetre, Sushma Neharkar, and Ashutosh Muglikar have been selected for the other three awards. Earlier, this award was given to the editors of – ‘ABP Majha’ Rajiv Khandekar, ‘Zee 24 Taas’ Dr Uday Nirgudkar, ‘Tarun Bharat’ Belgaum Kiran Thakur, ‘Divya Marathi’ Prashant Dixit, ‘Maharashtra Times’ Parag Karandikar, resident editor of ‘Loksatta’ Pune Mukund Sangoram, senior journalist Late Dilip Dharurkar, senior journalist Bhai Torsekar, ‘Aaj Ka Anand’ Shyam Aggarwal, senior journalist Abhijit Atre, ‘Nashik Deshdut’ Vaishali Balajiwale etc.
The program will be held on August 19, 2023, at 10.30 am in the AmphiTheater of Fergusson College. Shehzad Poonawala will give a speech on ‘Social Media and Journalism in the Digital Media Era’. The program will be chaired by Dr Sharad Kunte, Chairman of the Council and Governing Board of the Deccan Education Society. Milind Kamble, a member of Governing Board of the Deccan Education Society will also be present on this occasion. A request has been made on behalf of Vishwa Samvad Kendra and Deccan Education Society that journalists and citizens should attend this ceremony in large numbers.
At this time, on behalf of the Deccan Education Society, Dr Ravindra Acharya will give information about the education opportunities available in the field of various media and the autonomous DES Pune University of Deccan Education Society. Inspired by national ideas, Vishwa Samvad Kendra works all over the country and 30 centres are functioning in different states. The centre in Pune was established in 2014 and the functional area of the centre is Western Maharashtra. Vishwa Samvad Kendra works for the propagation of national ideas. For this, the centre coordinates with the media by exchanging information.
