Pune: BJP Demands Apology From Rahul Gandhi Over Controversial Statement On Reservation, Warns of Action
Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil has demanded that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi apologize to the nation and the Dalit community for his controversial statement on the cancellation of reservations. Patil warned that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will not remain silent if Gandhi fails to issue an apology.
Patil was speaking during a protest organized by the BJP across Maharashtra in response to Gandhi’s anti-reservation remarks, which he said have instilled fear among the Dalit community. The protest in Pune was held outside the District Collector’s office, led by Patil.
He further stated, “Congress had spread false propaganda during the Lok Sabha elections, claiming that BJP would cancel reservations if it won more than 400 seats. This lie gained traction in some areas, but the public has realized the truth and will respond in the upcoming Assembly elections.”
Patil also criticized Congress for its misuse of constitutional amendments and the imposition of the Emergency, during which 20 lakh citizens were imprisoned, and fundamental freedoms were suppressed.
He urged leaders like Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray, and Nana Patole to clarify their stance on reservation issues, stating that the people of Maharashtra will not be fooled by duplicity.
