TCS India Employees Receive Tax Notices, Firm Advises Waiting Before Payment: Report
Several Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employees have reportedly received tax notices from the Income Tax Department due to discrepancies in their tax deduction at source (TDS) claims. According to a report by Moneycontrol, the company has advised its employees to refrain from making any payments until further instructions are provided. The tax notices are said to demand amounts ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1.5 lakh.
In an internal communication, TCS assured its employees that those who received the notices will soon receive rectification intimations from the tax authorities, and no payment is required at this stage. The company believes the discrepancies will be resolved once the rectification process is completed.
The report further suggested that the issue may have arisen from an error in processing the filed tax returns. The assessing officer has the authority to amend the notice, potentially correcting the discrepancies.
TCS stated that once the tax authorities reprocess the returns, the TDS details will align with Form 26AS issued by the department and Form 16A provided by the company, resolving any discrepancies.
For now, employees are advised to wait for further updates from the company before taking any action.
