Pune Book Festival Kicks Off with Enthusiasm, Achieves Three World Records, Awaits Kumar Vishwas on Monday

Swapnil Dangorikar from Guinness World Records proudly declared the accomplishment and awarded a certificate to the organizers of the Pune Book Festival. The event, inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Dr. Neelam Gorhe and Minister Chandrakant Patil, is garnering a positive response from the people of Pune, with over 10,000 book enthusiasts attending on the first day.

The festival, a collaborative effort by the Ministry of Education, the National Book Trust, the Government of Maharashtra, Savitribai Phule Pune University, and the Pune Municipal Corporation, commenced on Saturday. Dr. Gorhe praised the festival’s organization, emphasizing the significance of fostering a reading culture and commending its contribution to the city’s cultural heritage.

Under the program “Kavi Ki Kalam Se: An Afternoon with Kumar Vishwas,” Hindi poet and socio-political figure Kumar Vishwas is set to participate from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM on December 18.

Minister Patil highlighted the importance of the book festival in promoting a reading culture and its relevance for Pune. He announced the free distribution of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s book ‘Exam Warriors’ to students and parents during the festival.

National Book Trust President Milind Marathe, Director Colonel Yuvraj Malik, and other dignitaries graced the occasion. Marathe described the Pune Book Festival as an amalgamation of literature, art, and culinary culture, running until December 24.

The festival, featuring 20 lakh books in over 20 languages across 250 halls, aims to set four world records, endorsing its ambition to become the book capital of the world. Pandey, the chief organizer, expressed gratitude for the special support from the state government, ensuring the event’s success.

As part of the festival, the book ‘Establishment of Hindavi Swarajya – Shivaray Chhatrapati Zale’ was released, and a record was set for the longest word made of books, titled ‘Jaitu Bharat,’ consisting of 18,751 books. This surpassed the previous record of 11,111 books and included copies of ‘Exam Warriors’ by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Notably, a Guinness World Record was created for the largest reading activity by 3066 parents at a precursor event, further solidifying the festival’s remarkable achievements.
