Pune Boy Found in Kerala After Disappearing Following Family Dispute
An emotional outburst led an 11-year-old boy from Kondhwa, Pune, to leave home and embark on an unexpected journey, eventually making his way to Ernakulam, Kerala. The boy, upset after a quarrel with his father over studies, boarded the Pune-Ernakulam superfast train on February 15, setting off alone without informing anyone. His absence left his family frantic, and they immediately contacted the authorities.
After five days of searching, the Kondhwa police were able to trace the boy’s whereabouts, with help from local railway authorities in Kerala. On February 16, Railway Childline workers at Ernakulam Railway Station found the boy, who appeared lost and disoriented. The authorities were alerted, and the boy was taken to the Palluruthy Bosco Nilayam Open Shelter Home for safety.
Through an inquiry, the boy revealed his origins in Pune, which led the Ernakulam Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to reach out to Kondhwa Police. The diligent efforts of CWC members helped identify the child’s family, and the police officer in charge, Sukeshini, facilitated the identification and location of his parents.
A video conference was arranged to confirm the boy’s identity, and once the legal procedures were completed, his father, who had traveled from Pune, was able to take custody of his son. The emotional reunion took place on Thursday, after necessary counselling sessions, marking the end of the boy’s unexpected journey and his return home.
