Pune, April 11, 2025 :  In an inspiring story of courage, determination, and unbreakable family bonds, two young brothers from Pune—Abhinav (15) and Srihan (9)—accompanied by their father, Prem Kumar Jayaraman, have triumphantly completed the demanding Everest Base Camp (EBC) trek. Residents of Irene Towers in Aloma County, Aundh Baner, the trio turned a high-altitude adventure into a powerful story of resilience and bonding.

The Everest Base Camp trek, perched at 5,364 meters (17,598 feet) in the heart of Nepal’s Himalayas, is a dream for adventurers worldwide. For the Jayaraman family, it became a shared milestone—proof that with preparation, teamwork, and determination, even the toughest goals can be achieved.

Abhinav is a student of The Orchid School, Baner, while his younger brother Srihan studies at DAV Public School, Aundh. Srihan is now one of the youngest from his school to reach EBC—a notable achievement that adds to the inspiration behind their story.

We wanted to do something that would challenge us as a family,” said Prem Kumar, an IT professional and experienced trekker. “The trek pushed us to our limits but brought us closer together. The memories and lessons we gained will stay with us forever.”

Months of Training and Preparation

The family devoted several months to training for the trek. Their regimen included weekend hikes to local hills like Sinhagad Fort, long-distance walks across Pune, and regular stair-climbing sessions in their apartment complex.

Abhinav, inspired by documentaries and books on the Himalayas, led by example during training. Srihan, just nine years old, showed unwavering enthusiasm and toughness beyond his age, never shying away from the physical challenges.

Trials on the Trail

While the breathtaking Himalayan views offered motivation, the journey also brought real tests. At an altitude of 4,000 meters, Srihan experienced symptoms of altitude sickness, including dizziness and fatigue.

Dad told me to take deep breaths and walk slowly. That helped a lot” Srihan shared.

Meanwhile, Abhinav braved the slippery, ice-covered trails, drawing strength from his younger brother’s fearless determination to overcome his own doubts.

The trek also brought meaningful human connections. “We were lucky to have met co-trekkers Jasmine and Bhawin from the UAE,” Prem said. “Their support and encouragement during difficult stretches truly lifted our spirits.”

Yogesh Gupta, Founder of Super Trekkers, praised the family’s achievement: “EBC is not just a physical challenge—it’s a test of spirit, especially at such young ages. Abhinav and Srihan showed remarkable courage and maturity.

Prem added, “We’re grateful to Yogesh Gupta for his guidance and support. This journey has changed our lives.”

From the quiet lanes of Aundh-Baner to the base of the world’s highest peak, the Jayaramans have crafted a powerful story of family unity, youthful bravery, and human spirit. Their journey stands as a shining example for parents and young explorers alike—showing that age is no obstacle when dreams are pursued with passion.

Their footprints along the trail to Everest Base Campnow serve as a call to others—an invitation to venture beyond comfort, rise to new heights, and uncover the resilience that lies within.
