Pune: In a major breakthrough, the Kondhwa police have arrested a burglar, leading to the resolution of seven burglary cases in the city. The accused identified as Surendra Aslaramji Chaudhary (28) was apprehended while his accomplices Nemaram alias Doularam Chaudhary and Bhundaram alias Raju Chaudhary are still at large. The gang, originally from Rajasthan, is suspected of being involved in an additional 13 thefts across the state.

Following a tip-off, police inspector Sandeep Bhosle set up a trap and successfully arrested Chaudhary near Kanha Hotel Square around 8:30 pm on Thursday. The accused was found to be connected to various burglaries, including one at Ajmera Park in Kondhwa. Recovered from Chaudhary’s possession were stolen vehicles and valuables worth ₹8 lakh.

Assistant Police Inspector Anil Suryawanshi revealed that the accused had stolen goods amounting to ₹10 lakh from the city, and a significant portion of it has been recovered. Tools commonly used in burglaries, such as iron cutters, screwdrivers, grips, and spanners, were also seized as evidence. The Yawat police station has registered a case under sections 461 (dishonestly breaking open receptacle containing property) and 380 (theft in a dwelling house) of the Indian Penal Code.
