Pune, March 25, 2026: A businessman was allegedly abducted from the Gultekdi area near Swargate on Tuesday, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding a ransom of ₹1.5 crore for his release, police said.
The case has been registered at the Swargate Police Station following a complaint lodged by the victim’s wife.
According to preliminary information, the businessman resides in Maharshi Nagar with his family. He left home on Tuesday morning for his shop as part of his routine. However, when he failed to return home for lunch—something he typically does—his family grew concerned.
Police said that around 1 pm, the victim’s wife received a call through a social media platform from an unknown number. During the call, the businessman informed her that he had been kidnapped and was being held captive. He also indicated that his life was in danger.
Shortly after, the abductors spoke to the woman and demanded ₹1.5 crore in exchange for his safe release. They allegedly warned her against informing anyone and stated that he would only be freed once the ransom was paid.
Following the call, the woman approached the police and filed a complaint.
The probe is being held by police teams actively working on multiple leads in the case.
