Pune: Central Railway GM Prateek Goswami Conducts Comprehensive Safety Inspection of Daund–Lonavala Section
Pune, February 7, 2026:
Prateek Goswami, General Manager of Central Railway, carried out an extensive safety inspection of the Daund–Lonavala railway section under the Pune Division on Friday, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational safety, infrastructure standards and service efficiency.
The inspection began at Daund, where the General Manager reviewed the Crew Lobby and the Electronic Interlocking (EI) Building. He commissioned several key facilities, including the Basic Training Centre, solar panel installations, the Electric Loco Shed, and the Testing Van, and also inspected the lathe machine and the Traction Sub-Station at the location.
At Kedgaon, Goswami commissioned the Gang Hut and Track Machine Rest House, and conducted a speed trial on the Kedgaon–Uruli section. He also inspected Level Crossing Gate No. 7 between the Uruli–Loni section and Curve No. 1 on the Up Main Line between the Loni–Hadapsar section. Further inspections included turnout numbers 118B, 123A, 121B and Long Welded Rail (LWR) No. 3, along with a station inspection at Hadapsar.
At Pune railway station, the General Manager reviewed the Divisional Railway Hospital, station redevelopment works, Pune yard remodelling projects, and facilities at the Crew Lobby and Running Room. He later addressed the media at a press conference and held interactions with railway union representatives.
The inspection continued with a review of Sangam Bridge, including Girder Bridge No. 190/1, followed by a visit to the Railway Colony at Chinchwad. He commissioned the Basic Training Centre there, inspected the TRD Depot, reviewed departmental safety exhibitions, and appreciated innovative practices adopted by various departments. He also praised the Dog Squad demonstration and inaugurated an Android-based mobile application for cleanliness feedback.
Further inspections included Limited Height Subway (LHS) No. 53 at KM 164/3–4 near Begdewadi, Level Crossing No. 43, and the commissioning of a Gang Hut. He also interacted with branch officers, stressing the importance of safety, punctuality, and high maintenance standards.
Throughout the inspection, Goswami engaged closely with ground-level staff and officers, reiterating the need for strict adherence to safety protocols, disciplined operations, and efficient train services.
Divisional Railway Manager Pune, Rajesh Kumar Verma, along with senior officers from Central Railway Headquarters and the Pune Division, accompanied the General Manager during the inspection.
