Pune : Chandni chowk flyover to be in service by May 1 : Union minister Nitin Gadkari

Union minister for Road transport Nitin Gadkari was in Pune on a visit to various projects. While addressing the media, the minister told that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to inaugurate flyovers likely by 1 st of May. Inauguration ceremony is likely to be done by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Gadkari said,“Construction of flyover work is on track, if CM Shinde and DCM Fadnavis is available then NHAI planning to inaugurate flyover by May 1.’’

Elaborating the reason behind the delay of the project, Gadkari told that, Project has taken almost six years due to many reasons including delay in the land acquisition process. A separate plan for Pimpri Chinchwad to Hadapsar and Hadapsar to Dive Ghat will be made soon, which are an integral part of the Palkhi marg.

Issue of the traffic jam in Chandni chowk was highlighted when CM Eknath Shinde was stuck in traffic during last year. Many local residents, activist approached CM Eknath Shinde to intervene in this matter.

On Saturday, March 11 minister Gadkari had also taken an aerial review of the  construction of Palkhi Mahamarg from Alandi to Pandharpur and from Dehu to Pandharpur and given instructions to speed up the work.
