Pune: Punekars have organized a march ‘Chalo PMC’ to protest against the poor or no basic facilities on August 9. As per information, Punekars will march to the office of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and surround it as part of the protest.

It is worthy to note that in the last 15 months, the PMC has managed to collect a budget of nearly Rs 12 to 15 thousand crores. Along with the budget, nearly 16 thousand employees & hundreds of contractors work in PMC. Despite all of this, Punekars are struggling for basic facilities every single day.

Potholes issues, garbage issues, pollution, traffic jams & bottlenecks, public toilet issues, water supply, no streetlights and many more issues are faced by common citizens of Pune every day.

The protestors have alleged that in the name of BRT, crores of rupees are being spent only on concreting roads, but the number of buses is not being increased. The remedial plan made by the PMC is proving to be ineffective, instead of solving the problems of the citizens, the PMC is starting new works to protect the interests of the contractors. They also questioned how the substandard contractors are being given jobs again and again? Why is there no proper supervision of the contractor’s work? Who is protecting the encroachment? There is enough manpower, enough money, all the systems are available, so what exactly is the problem to organize the work?

To demand appropriate & concrete answers & solutions, some like-minded citizens are going to surround the PMC building on 9th August at 10 am. Punekars are encouraged to join the protesters to show the PMC the strength of common people and to get effective solutions on each and every issue.
