Pune : Civil Aviation Analyst Requests Union Civil Aviation Ministry To Appoint Full Time PRO for Pune Airport
Dhairyashil Vandekar, a Civil Aviation Analyst from Pune, has urged the Union Civil Aviation Ministry to appoint a Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Pune International Airport in Lohegaon, Pune.
As per information by Dhairyashil Vandekar, Pune Civil Aviation Analyst, on 10 September 2023, via email & letter, Vandekar had brought to the attention of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia the pressing need to appoint a dedicated PRO for Pune International Airport.
Vandekar said “I observed many a times the vital Pune airport related reports carried by the local and national newspaper do not have a response or clarification from the Airport Director which state that even after contacting the Airport Director, ‘his reply was awaited till going to press’ etc.”
He further added “I need not emphasise to you that effective communication is the cornerstone of a well-functioning airport. Timely and transparent responses to queries and concerns, especially of the press, are essential for maintaining the trust and confidence of the passengers and the public. A prompt response from the Airport Director on all airport issues is vital, more so when the city has lost its public representative, Member of Parliament Late Girish Bapat, who, as the Chairman of Pune Airport Advisory Committee, was the only link between the city’s public and the airport authorities.”
He further added “While being fair to the Airport Director, there is every possibility that he is unable to respond promptly to press queries etc. due to his pressing engagements and heavy workloads as Pune airport is a very busy airport with high movement of VVIPs, ongoing civil and other projects etc.”
He further added “In view of the above, I request your intervention in appointing a dedicated and competent Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Pune Airport at Lohegaon, Pune who can act as a liaison between the airport authorities, the media, passengers and the general public. This is a pressing necessity for Pune airport which caters to a top emerging global city that is expected to play a pivotal role for the region’s connectivity and growth. With the appointment of a PRO, the passenger and press queries can be promptly responded to, important airport related updates and information can be timely disseminated to the passengers, public and press through various channels and social media, better coordination with stakeholders etc. This step will not only serve the public interest but also contribute to the efficient and responsible operation of Pune airport, enhancing its overall efficiency and improving its image.”
