Pune: CM Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates Iconic Butterfly Bridge Connecting Thergaon To Chinchwad Over Pavana RiverÂ

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday inaugurated the much-awaited Butterfly Bridge on the 18-meter Development Plan (DP) Road near Prasundham, spanning the Pavana River.
This striking infrastructure project, designed for both functionality and aesthetic appeal, aims to transform urban mobility in the region.
The Butterfly Bridge provides direct and smoother connectivity between Thergaon, Chinchwad, and Kalewadi, offering relief from the chronic congestion faced at Moraya Gosavi Mandir and Chapekar Chowk routes. Earlier, residents and commuters endured long detours due to limited crossing options over the Pavana River.
Built with a focus on easing vehicular movement, especially for heavy vehicles, the bridge includes newly constructed approach roads measuring 275 meters on the Thergaon side and 480 meters on the Chinchwad side.
The new route is expected to significantly reduce traffic jams and cut travel time for thousands of daily commuters.
Speaking at the event, CM Fadnavis praised the project as a symbol of Pimpri-Chinchwad’s progress towards smart and sustainable urban infrastructure.
The Butterfly Bridge is now open to the public, marking a major milestone in the city’s ongoing smart city development mission.
