Pune: With the price of tomato hitting Rs 60 per kg in the wholesale market, the retailers were charging Rs 100 per kg in many parts of the city on Sunday.

“In the wholesale market, the price ranges between Rs 40 and Rs 60. This is the first time, the price has increased so much. Excess heat is one of the reasons for the price rise. Tomatoes are not being brought from other states and that explains the price rise,” said Vilas Bhujbal, president, Market Yard Commission Agents.
