Pune Court Stenographer Stabs Wife To Death, Surrenders With Son
A shocking incident unfolded in Kharadi on Wednesday morning when a 37-year-old court stenographer, Shivdas Tukaram Gite, allegedly murdered his wife using a pair of scissors at their rented house. The couple’s six-year-old son was reportedly present in the same room during the tragic event.
The accused, employed at Shivajinagar court, later surrendered at the Kharadi police station, bringing his son along.
The incident occurred around 4:30 AM in Tulja Bhavani Nagar, Kharadi, where the couple resided in a single-room accommodation. Upon receiving Gite’s confession, police dispatched a team to the scene and found 28-year-old Jyoti Shivdas Gite lying in a pool of blood. A tailoring scissor, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav confirmed the arrest, stating, “Initial investigation indicates domestic issues as the motive. Further investigation is underway.”
The accused reported the crime to the police at 7:15 AM, where he admitted to the murder. “He approached duty officers and confessed to killing his wife. A verification team pronounced the woman dead at the scene,” said an investigating officer.
The six-year-old boy, traumatized but unharmed, remains in the care of authorities while further steps are being determined.
Preliminary findings suggest that the couple had been facing ongoing domestic disputes. The police have registered a case, and Shivdas Tukaram Gite is now in custody as investigations continue.
