Pune Crime Branch Arrests Wanted Accused From Nilesh Ghaywal Gang In MCOCA Case
Pune, November 8, 2025: The Anti-Extortion Squad 1 of Pune City Police Crime Branch has arrested a wanted accused linked to the notorious Nilesh Ghaywal gang, who had been absconding in a serious MCOCA case.
On November 7, 2025, Police Constable Rajendra Landge from the Anti-Extortion Squad 1 received a tip-off from a confidential informant about the location of the accused. The information revealed that Jayesh Krishna Wagh (36), a resident of Kelewadi, Kothrud, was hiding in Kondari village, Titwala, in Thane district, under a false identity.
Wagh was wanted in C.R. No. 250/2025 registered at Kothrud Police Station under sections 109, 351, 352, 189, 190 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 3(25) of the Arms Act. Following the tip, a police team swiftly reached the location, conducted a search, and successfully apprehended the accused.
The operation was executed under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingale, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch 1) Vijay Kumbhar.
The arrest team included Senior Police Inspector Ashwini Jagtap, Assistant Police Inspector Rajesh Malegave, and police personnel Amol Awad, Rajendra Landge, Sayaji Chavan, Nitin Kamble, Amar Pawar, Nitin Borate, along with officers from Unit 2 — Avinash Konde, Bablu Mandhre, and Nagesh Rakh.
Police officials stated that the accused’s arrest marks a significant step in tightening the crackdown on gang-related criminal networks operating in Pune and nearby regions.
