In a crackdown on nightlife establishments flouting regulations, the Pune crime branch officers have taken action against two pubs in the Kalyani Nagar area for operating beyond the mandated closing deadline of 2 am.

Despite repeated warnings from Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar regarding adherence to closing hours, these pubs were found operating until 5:45 am on Monday, prompting swift action from law enforcement.

The officials seized music systems and hookah pots valued at Rs 29 lakh from the establishments and filed separate cases against the pub operators at the Yerawada police station. Acting on a tip-off, a team led by senior inspector Bharat Jadhav conducted investigations, confirming the violation through CCTV footage.

The footage revealed customers being served hookah pots and engaging in activities well past the stipulated closing time. This crackdown comes in line with Commissioner Kumar’s directives to strictly enforce closing deadlines, reinforced by notices issued under Section 144 CrPC on February 19 to all nightlife establishments.
