Pune Crime Branch Makes Arrest In Uruli Kanchan Shooting Incident; Seizes 2 Guns And 215 Bullet Cartridges
Pune – The Pune Crime Branch has arrested Bapu alias Dasharath Vitthal Shitole in connection with a shooting incident that occurred on September 14, 2024, in Uruli Kanchan. The complaint, registered at the Uruli Kanchan Police Station, involves serious charges under Sections 109, 115 (2), 238, 126 (2), 352, 351 (2) (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Section 30 of the Indian Arms Act.
The incident arose from a financial dispute where Kaluram Mahadev Gote and Sharad Kailas Gote were allegedly shot by Shitole after he was pressured to return forty lakh rupees that Gote had loaned him 18 months ago. Shitole invited the complainants to his home with the promise of returning the money but instead fired four rounds from a licensed pistol, severely injuring Kaluram Gote’s hands and legs.
Following the shooting, Superintendent of Police (Pune Rural) Pankaj Deshmukh visited the crime scene and directed a thorough search. A local crime branch team, acting on a confidential tip, located Shitole hiding in a field across the railway track. During the investigation, Shitole’s family members, including Nilima Bapu, Jignesh Bapu, Asha Suresh Bhosle, and Nikhil Ashok Bhosale, were also arrested.
The police seized significant evidence related to the crime, including two guns, 215 bullet cartridges, and various firearm accessories. All arrested individuals have been remanded in police custody until September 18, 2024. Kaluram Gote is currently receiving treatment at Nobel Hospital in Pune.
