In a grim discovery that has sparked a major police investigation, the decomposed body of a woman was found stuffed inside a pink suitcase near the Monkey Hill stretch on the busy Mumbai-Pune railway route.
The suitcase was spotted lying suspiciously close to the tracks by a train passenger, triggering swift action from railway and local police authorities.
The incident came to light on Thursday when a commuter on a Mumbai-Pune train noticed the suitcase near the tracks as the train passed through Monkey Hill, a well-known ghat section.

The passenger alerted the railway police, who, along with the Lonavala Railway Police, rushed to the location and recovered the suitcase.
Upon opening the suitcase, police were met with a gruesome sight—the woman’s body was in a severely decomposed state, suggesting the crime may have occurred several days ago. A panchnama was conducted at the scene and the body was sent for post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
