On October 30, science communication professional Gayatri Kshirsagar purchased kharwas, a popular Maharashtrian sweet, from the renowned Jogeshwari Misal outlet located at Theur Phata on the Pune–Solapur Highway.
Despite the packet being properly sealed, labeled, and displaying an expiry date three days away, Kshirsagar discovered that the sweet was spoiled upon opening it.
The incident has caused widespread concern about how food is handled and stored at such busy eateries that cater to hundreds of travelers daily.
Kshirsagar took to social media to highlight the issue, urging authorities to conduct stricter inspections of food outlets along major highways. The post quickly drew attention from netizens, many of whom shared similar experiences.
