Pune, 10 August: Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has urged Ganesh mandals to take initiative in raising awareness about the Ullas-Navbharat Literacy Program during the upcoming Ganeshotsav and Navratri festivals.

According to the 2011 census, there are 1,067,823 illiterate individuals in the district, including 353,602 men and 714,221 women. This has prompted the central government to pay special attention to Pune district, emphasizing the need for effective implementation of the Ullas-Navbharat Literacy Program. The program aims to register 38,808 illiterates through the Ullas app in the district for the 2024-25 period.

There is a need for widespread promotion of this program. In this regard, literacy weeks should be organized from September 1 to 8, with activities planned during the Ganeshotsav (Ganesh Chaturthi on September 7 to Anant Chaturdashi on September 17) and Navratri (October 3 to 12). Ganesh mandals are encouraged to display banners related to the Ullas program and organize various competitions such as speeches, painting, rangoli, debates, singing, general knowledge, and storytelling.
