Pune Division’s Joint RPF–GRP Team Busts Sansi Gang; 5 Accused Arrested In High-Value Gold Theft Case
Pune, December 3, 2025: In a major breakthrough, a joint team of Railway Protection Force (RPF) Pune Division, Crime Intelligence Branch (CIB/PA), Tejaswini CPDS Team, Local Crime Branch (LCB) Pune, and Government Railway Police (GRP) Miraj successfully detected a high-value passenger theft case and apprehended 05 members of the notorious Sansi gang involved in stealing 233 grams (23.8 tolas) of gold ornaments, valued at approximately ₹8,14,500/-, from a lady passenger travelling in Train No. 16505 (Gandhidham–Bengaluru Express) on 26 November 2025 between Sangli and Miraj.
Following the complaint, GRP Miraj registered a case vide Crime No. 117/2025 U/S 303 & 305(C) BNS. Acting swiftly, Pune Division activated its specialized Tejaswini CPDS team and launched a coordinated multi-agency investigation.
Key Highlights of the Detection
CCTV footage from Miraj Yard helped identify the first suspect.
Technical surveillance, dump data and tower location analysis led teams to Sangli Bus Stand, where 8 suspects were spotted.
Based on intelligence inputs, the movement of 5 core suspects was traced to Kolhapur and later to Goa Airport.
Continuous monitoring confirmed that the suspects boarded flight 6E 542 (Goa–New Delhi) on 30 November 2025.
With immediate coordination between RPF Pune, GRP Pune and Delhi Crime Branch, all five accused were detained at New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS).
A joint RPF–GRP team from Pune took custody of the accused on 30 November 2025, and they were brought to Pune today.
Accused Persons Arrested
1. Kuldeep (34 yrs) – Jind, Haryana
2. Amit Kumar (35 yrs) – Bhiwani, Haryana
3. Monu (32 yrs) – Bhiwani, Haryana
4. Ajay (36 yrs) – Jind, Haryana
5. Hawa Singh (65 yrs) – Jind, Haryana
Upon interrogation, all accused confessed to committing the theft in Train No. 16505 on 26.11.2025.
The recovery of stolen gold ornaments is underway, and further investigation is being carried out by GRP/Miraj.
This successful detection once again highlights the efficiency, vigilance and seamless coordination of RPF–GRP teams in Pune Division in ensuring passenger security and combating organised railway crime.
