Pune: Elina Living Society Developer Fined ₹80.47 Lakh By PMC For Unauthorized Road Excavation In Mohammadwadi
Pune, October 24, 2025: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has imposed a hefty penalty of ₹8,046,720 (approximately ₹80.47 lakh) on M/s. Chafalkar Karandikar Developers for unauthorized road excavation in Mohammedwadi.
He is the same developer who has built Elina Living Society at NIBM Annexe in Mohamadwadi.
The developers had carried out excavation on the footpath to lay electric cables from Backstage hotel, NIBM to Raheja Chowk without obtaining the necessary permissions.
The issue came to light after complaints were lodged by residents, including Ashok Mehandale and Jaymala Dhankikar, with the Roads Department. A site inspection conducted on October 14, 2025, confirmed that excavation of 220 R.M. had been carried out illegally.
PMC has levied a penalty based on the footpath length and applicable rates. The developers are required to deposit the penalty amount immediately with the PMC treasury. Failure to comply will result in further action, including a stop-work notice on the construction project, as per PMC regulations.
PMC has also clarified that no further permissions related to the project will be granted until the penalty is cleared.
