The encroachment issue plaguing residents of NIBM Kausarbaug, Kondhwa particularly in societies like Manish Park and Kumar Pragati, has reached critical levels, demanding immediate action from authorities.

Residents are grappling with the presence of scrap dealers who have unlawfully occupied pavements, obstructing pedestrian pathways and posing significant hurdles to daily commutes.

A committee member from Manish Park Phase 1, speaking anonymously to Pune Pulse, highlighted the longstanding predicament, stating, “The situation outside our society is dire. Despite repeated pleas, the encroachment by a scrap dealer remains unchecked. The cluttered pavements not only impede pedestrian movement but also pose serious safety risks, as evidenced by a recent fire incident.”

Echoing these concerns, the chairman of Manish Park Phase 1 expressed frustration over the lack of action from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and warned of potential catastrophes if the issue persists unchecked.

Similarly, residents from Kumar Pragati lamented the proliferation of encroachments, including the illegal business operations of scrap dealers, which have led to the occupation of public spaces and forced pedestrians onto hazardous roads.

In response, Rahul Bokan, Encroachment Inspector at PMC, assured that the matter would be investigated promptly, signaling hope for relief for the beleaguered residents.

The encroachment saga in NIBM Kausarbaug underscores the urgent need for proactive measures from authorities to reclaim public spaces and ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
