Pune, July 16, 2026: Phursungi Police have registered a case against a businessman for allegedly stocking and intending to sell counterfeit Tata Salt packets from a warehouse in Pune’s Fursungi area.

According to the police, the case has been registered under Sections 275 and 349 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 51 and 63 of the Copyright Act.

The complainant, Krishna Deviprasad Kanojia (50), a resident of Kurar Village, Malad East, Mumbai, alleged that the accused, Dhaval Jain (60), a businessman from Market Yard, Pune, was storing counterfeit Tata Salt products at his warehouse located at Survey No. 164/2A/3A, Khutwad Chowk, Fursungi–Hadapsar Road.

Police said the raid was conducted at around 3 pm on July 14, 2026, during which the counterfeit salt packets bearing the Tata brand name were allegedly found stocked for sale. Investigators stated that the accused knowingly stored the fake products despite being aware that such counterfeit goods could pose a risk to consumers and infringe upon the intellectual property rights of Tata Salt.

Based on the complaint, Fursungi Police registered the offence at 8.38 pm on July 14. The case is being investigated by Police Sub-Inspector Nivrutti Mane, while the FIR was registered by Woman Police Sub-Inspector Anuradha Dhumal of Fursungi Police Station.

Further investigation is underway.
