Pune FDA Action: Soya Chunks, Turmeric Powder Stock Seized From Market Yard Over Adulteration Suspicions; ₹8.56 Lakh Goods Confiscated
Pune, July 16, 2026: As part of the ‘Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Pune Division conducted raids at multiple locations on July 14 and seized suspected adulterated and prohibited food products worth ₹8.56 lakh.
The FDA seized food stock valued at ₹8.33 lakh on suspicion of adulteration, along with prohibited food items worth ₹22,789.
In Pune, a major stock of turmeric powder, sesame seeds, and soya chunks was seized from an establishment at Market Yard. The concerned business has been issued a notice to stop operations until further orders for violating food safety regulations.
Meanwhile, a case has been registered against two persons in Sangli district in connection with a milk adulteration case.
The FDA has appealed to citizens to report complaints related to food quality or hygiene by contacting the toll-free helpline number 1800222365. The appeal was issued by the Joint Commissioner (Food), Pune Division.
