Pune: Fire Erupts in Fuel Tanker Cabin On Hadapsar-Shewalewadi road; Fire Brigade Swiftly Brings Blaze Under Control
Pune, A major fire incident was averted in Pune’s Hadapsar-Shewalewadi area after a fuel tanker carrying petrol and diesel caught fire on Sunday morning. The blaze reportedly started in the cabin of the tanker while it was parked along the roadside.
Upon receiving the emergency call, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Fire Brigade immediately dispatched fire tenders to the spot. The fire, which could have led to a massive explosion given the highly flammable materials inside the tanker, was swiftly brought under control by the prompt action of the firefighters.
According to officials, the fire originated in the driver’s cabin, possibly due to a short circuit or overheating of electrical components. Fortunately, the flames did not spread to the fuel compartment, preventing what could have been a major disaster in the densely populated area.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing thick smoke rising from the tanker, causing panic among locals and nearby shop owners. Traffic movement in the area was briefly halted as a precautionary measure while the fire brigade worked to douse the flames.
No injuries or casualties have been reported in the incident. The fire department has initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Authorities have also urged vehicle owners transporting hazardous materials to follow all safety protocols and ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles to avoid such dangerous mishaps.
