Pune: Food and Drug Administration Seizes Stock Worth Rs. 14.35 Lakh In Pune During Ganeshotsav Drive

Pune, 20 September, 2024: During the Ganeshotsav festival, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Pune office conducted 101 inspections of food establishments in the Pune division. A total of 117 food samples, including milk, khoya, paneer, sweet mawa, ghee, butter, and savory snacks, were collected for analysis. From these inspections, food products worth ₹9,19,520 were seized. Across Pune district and the Pune division, a total stock worth ₹14,35,958 was confiscated.

As part of the operation, 48 inspections were carried out in the district, and 53 food samples, including milk, khoya, paneer, sweet mawa, ghee, butter, and savory snacks, were taken for analysis. Once the analysis reports are received, legal action will be taken, and raids were conducted on suspected adulterated food items. The Pune office seized more than ₹5,16,000 worth of items, including cow ghee, adulterated butter, sweet khoya, and vanaspati.

This action was carried out under the supervision of the Assistant Commissioners of the FDA, Pune, and the guidance of the Joint Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, Pune, along with the FDA Commissioner, Mumbai. Citizens are urged to report any suspicions regarding adulterated food during the festive season by contacting the FDA’s toll-free number 1800222365, said Suresh Annapure, Joint Commissioner, FDA Pune.
