Pune: Full Water Management Plan Required For New Construction Permits, Informs PMRDA Commissioner

Pune News: PMRDA Begins Recruitment for 407 Positions After Government Approval
Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority’s newly appointed Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase outlined new policies for infrastructure and construction in the region. He stated that permits for new constructions will only be granted once proper planning for water management and waste disposal is completed.
Dr. Mhase highlighted the importance of addressing traffic congestion by linking missing roads. The PMRDA will prioritize connecting these roads to alleviate traffic issues. He urged the public to support the ring road project, noting that in return, TDR (Transfer of Development Rights), DCR (Development Control Rules), and incentivised FSI (Floor Space Index) will be offered.
Dr. Mhase presented the government with a proposal to reserve a five TMC water stock for drinking purposes.
He moreover addressed ongoing demolition of illegal hookah bars and pubs, emphasising that efforts will continue to regularise existing constructions in residential areas.
The Commissioner assured that the stalled township projects will be resolved within the next fifteen days. Additionally, he confirmed that permission has been granted for a metro station near Raj Bhavan and a pedestrian bridge for students at the University.
The flyover in front of Savitribai Phule Pune University is expected to be completed by the end of November, and metro work is scheduled to finish by March.
