PUNE: The deadline to confirm admissions under the first round of the centralised First Year Junior College (FYJC) process will end at 5 PM on Monday, July 7. So far, 4,70,002 students across Maharashtra have secured their seats.

According to Dr. Mahesh Palekar, director of education, 3,81,331 students confirmed their admissions under the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) by Sunday evening. Another 77,209 students secured quota-based seats, bringing the total number of confirmed admissions to nearly 4.7 lakh.

This year marks the first time the FYJC admission process is being conducted entirely online across the state, covering 9,435 junior colleges offering 19,324 streams. Of these, 9,020 streams have received applications exceeding their intake capacity, while 10,304 streams are still under-subscribed.

Students who missed completing Part-1 of their application in the first round have until 5 PM today to do so on the official portal. Vacant seats from round 1 will be displayed on July 9. Applications for round 2 will open from July 10 to 13, where students can submit their college and stream preferences.

An analysis of SSC scores among admitted students shows:

  • 29 students secured admission with a perfect 100% score.
  • 2,489 students scored between 80% and 99%.
  • 1,888 students scored between 60% and 79%.
  • 3,505 students were in the 40% to 59% range.
  • 10,278 students were admitted despite scoring below 40%.

The admission process spans eight municipal regions, with Mumbai (80,858 applicants) and Pune (79,417 applicants) leading in the number of applications, followed by Nashik (56,678).

Education officials have urged students to complete formalities on time to secure their preferred colleges and streams, as cut-offs in many institutions have risen sharply this year.
