Pune: Garbage Collection Hit As Delays In Emptying Compactors At Hadapsar Ramp Affect Solid Waste Management
Pune, June 10, 2026: Delays in unloading garbage from large compactor vehicles at the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Hadapsar Ramp are severely affecting the city’s solid waste management system, according to a statement issued by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The party alleged that garbage-loaded compactor vehicles are being forced to wait in long queues at the ramp due to delays in the unloading process. As a result, the number of scheduled collection trips undertaken by these vehicles has reduced, impacting waste collection operations across several city wards. Many areas are reportedly witnessing delays in garbage lifting.
The disruption has led to the accumulation of garbage on roads, public places, marketplaces, and residential localities. This has raised concerns about foul odour, mosquito breeding, and the increased risk of the spread of infectious diseases.
AAP stated that while solid waste management is an essential civic service, inadequate planning and operational delays at the Hadapsar Ramp have placed significant strain on the entire waste management system.
The party has demanded that the PMC administration immediately conduct an audit of the waste unloading process at the Hadapsar facility, deploy additional machinery and vehicles, publicly disclose the reasons for the delays, and fix accountability on the concerned officials and contractors.
AAP further said that providing citizens with a clean and healthy environment is the municipal corporation’s statutory responsibility. The party warned that if the shortcomings in solid waste management are not addressed promptly and services are not restored to normalcy, it will launch a democratic agitation in protest.
The statement was issued by Niranjan Madhukar Adagale, Media Co-Coordinator, Aam Aadmi Party.
