Commuters on Sinhagad road’s Vadgaon-Dhayari bridge are facing a major problem due to a large garbage dump on the bridge.

The garbage dump has been accumulating for years, causing a foul smell and a wide range of health issues for those living and traveling in the area. Sometimes the garbage is burnt but that does not solve the problem.
Residents are demanding immediate action on the issue, while also insisting citizens to dispose of the waste responsibly.

Explaining the issue, Amit Sontakke of Vinathan Medical Shop said that garbage collectors come often but the dump is huge and needs consistent cleaning. “Waste is thrown regularly at the roadside which is causing the problems. People are also to be blamed for this situation.”

Jitendra Singh, a resident of Madhukosh society, near Dhayri Bridge said, ” We have been facing this issue for years. This dump is never cleared by the PMC. It causes foul smell, health issues and spoils the ambience. I hope PMC will take action and clean the garbage dump soon”

Refuting the charges levied on the corporation, Pradeep Awhad, Assistant Municipal Commissioner, Sinhgad road ward, PMC said that garbage is being collected in the area. “People using the road and those living in nearby areas throw garbage in that place. Awareness about cleanliness is a must. We are trying to clean the area on a daily basis but garbage is thrown regularly there. We are giving our 100%. We will clean the whole dump soon,” he said.
