Pune: Rutuja Varhade, a determined student from Pune, has etched her name in history by securing the All India Rank 1 in the National Defence Academy (NDA) examination — the first batch open to female candidates in the academy’s 75-year history. Rutuja outshone over 1.5 lakh female aspirants across the country to clinch the top position.

This landmark achievement has been hailed as a moment of pride not only for Pune but for the entire nation, as Rutuja emerges as a symbol of discipline, dedication, and ambition.

From an early age, Rutuja was drawn to the Indian Armed Forces, inspired by visits to military events with her father and a fascination for helicopters and fighter jets. Her childhood dream took flight through years of focused preparation and unwavering determination.

Rutuja trained at Yashotej Academy in Pune, where she rigorously prepared for the NDA entrance exam. Speaking after her results, she said, “I’ve always wanted to wear the uniform and serve the nation. This is just the beginning.”
